… the band finishes playing, applause stops, Dave puts down the coffee mug
David Letterman: Ok we’re back. Now for tonight’s top ten list. Now the Top Ten List tonight comes from the home office in Dayton, Ohio.
Paul Shaffer: Well now, that’s a new one.
Dave: Right you are Paul, just for tonight. These are top ten questions asked on the
Shrapnel Games Intel Forum for SE4, compiled for us by the
Play By Web server in Dayton, Ohio.
Paul: Oh I see ...
Dave: Yes, we took over the PBW server because, you know only a large computer like that has the, ...logical power to ...
Paul: Implement the heuristics to perform the search and compile the results?
Dave: There you go, just the terminology I was looking for, thank you Paul. Took the words right out of my mouth.
Paul: I just figured someone could have just browsed all the threads.
Dave: Now Paul, who ... in their right mind, ... would spend all that time ...
Paul: You could probably find someone ... well ...dedicated enough
Dave: Yeah Paul, the term is committed, folks. As in ...
Together: Ought to be… Ought a be … yeah.
Dave: Ok top ten questions, on the Intel Forums, over the past year.
Paul: Exactly 1 year?
Dave: Well, 1 year plus a couple weeks, so, one year plus some change, yeah,
takes another sip of coffee
Paul: So just about when
SE4 Gold came out.
Dave:
*Ah*, puts down mug Just a little bit before, yes Paul. ‘Bout a month before.
Paul: And this is compiling all the Posts?
Dave: No Paul, most Posts are you know “Here’s my website with my latest
shipset”, “Here’s my latest
scenario”, “I tried to
mod something and it didn’t work.” Stuff like that. That’s -- that’s not included.
Paul: Ok, so these would be the most common
newbie questions on how the game works.
Dave: Mostly you could say that, but you never know some
expert might be posing these questions themselves. Start the topic going. Newbies jump in with questions, their own observations, suggestions, whatever.
Paul: All right
Dave: So here are the top ten questions on the Shrapnel Games SE4 Intel forum
Number 10: Ok, what’s this
mount thing and why is his gun bigger than mine?
Number 9:
Retrofits , everything old is well, ripped out and replaced with new stuff
Number 8: Ok, who’s the wise guy that designed a
remote mining component that costs more than it mines
Number 7:
Strategic combat: no, not there, There. No, not, No...Augh. Why'd they do that?
Number 6:
Supplies : Who stocked this place, 6 years worth of missiles, 6 months worth of fuel?
Number 5:
Cloaking , what don't tell me capes are out of style already?
Number 4:
Tech trades , theoretically, that would make a good weapon. Without the theory, it‘s a good paperweight.
Number 3:
Drones . Were they supposed to look like little space suppositories?
Number 2: A
mine is a mine is a mine. *BANG* Oh, I guess that was yours?
And the number one question on the SE4 forum …
With the way it works, is it fair to call it
intelligence ?
Applause. Band starts up.
