I do it that way. It's OK. The files it has to transfer are only a couple hundred K.
An always on connection would allow you to use the PBW client. Then you would be connected as soon as a game is ready for you. That's convienent.

Congrats! I was kinda antsy with my copy too. It came later than I was hoping, yet it's definitely "better than never"

Re: THATS IT, I am deleting this from the computer
Connection speed isn't all that important for PBW; I only get 31.2k. I do prefer to use the text UI rather than the graphic UI at that speed, though.

I connect at 33.2 and PBW is fine.
The trick is, you're not talking to PBW when you play turns there. You download he files to your machine, and THEN play the game ... which means you might lose connection in the meantime. Once you're done, you upload your turnfile to PBW.

I wouldn't be so chearful if i where you. Prepare to lose tons of sleep, see your social life go down the drain, drink lots of coffee which is bad for your health and so on.
On the other hand, you get to slaughter some virtual races which can be fun

Re: THATS IT, I am deleting this from the computer
On the topic of PBW download speed... even when my Internet connection is running at a full crawl of 52 or so Kbps, files downloading from PBW only come at around 1 or 2 KB/s, instead of 4 or 5... is it any faster on broadband or is the server just slow? (Hey, with Geo replacing some parts maybe the server will be faster, huh huh huh? and maybe the files will actually display a % downloaded sometime? )
