Re: Favorite Ship Size Poll
Light Cruisers and Battle Cruisers, with Battleships as a close third.
LCs because they can carry Large mount and are pretty easy to get, BCs because they're the biggest ship that can hit speed 12, BBs for the heavy mount.

Re: Favorite Ship Size Poll
I must agree with Shoujo, I like Light Cruisers for their 10% defense bonus plus they are at max sped whereas Battlecruisers have Huge Mount available and are still at max speed. Cruisers are decent but if you're gonna get a bigger ship without a defense bonus then why not a BC. I like using mixed fleets of DS, LC, CR and BC in long games as each ship can be carefully customised for the role I want it to play in a battle.

Re: Favorite Ship Size Poll
Battleships can move as fast as Battle Cruisers in combat.

Re: Favorite Ship Size Poll
This is true but they cannot attack as many times when set to "seek after X" and then to "repeat orders". One assault can sometimes make the difference between victory and fefeat.

LCs and BCs for the same reasons everyone else has mentioned.

Re: Favorite Ship Size Poll
In the early game, I chose Frigate. Why? It's a nice, small, fast ship -- and I can simply add a CSM (or similar) to my initial scout design ... hopefully with uprated engines too, but ... *shrug*.
There's even room, for shorter-range uses, for 1 PDC and two CSMs in a Frigate. Makes a GREAT -early- hull.
If there was a seperate midgame choice, it would have been the Cruiser hulls collectively (CL, CA, BC).
Late game, I like the Dreadnoughts. Not as insufferably slow as the baseships, but still plenty big. 8)
