Are there any recent patches out for your client?
Have you tried using Trillian to connect to your Yahoo accounts? That will tell you if the problem is in the client program or the yahoo service itself.
You can always try a different IM service, too (MSN, ICQ, AIM, etc).
We tried this a long time ago using AIM. Sounded like a great idea! For some reason, we ran into all kinds of difficulties, including file corruption. Gave it up.
Someone was also talking about making a client that would allow for play using an ftp directory as a share drive. That seems like that should work pretty well and would be very cool. Not sure if they got it working or not though.

Play by Yahoo Messenger
Sequence:
Game is setup and named g2
Game is run and creates file “g2.gam”
File “g2.gam” is distributed via Yahoo messenger to mlmbd and others.
mlmbd and the others play their turn and file “g2 0002.plr etc…” iare created.
mlmbd and others send the files back via Yahoo messenger
They arrive as “g2+0002.plr, g3+0003.plr etc…”. The plus sign is actually part of the name of the file that arrives.
I have to rename it before I can run the turn
On the surface it is no big deal with just one file. With 3 or more it can get a bit difficult for me not to mention aggravating.
Does anyone have any ideas anyone? The current work a round is to send the gam file via messenger and the plr files via email.
Second but related issue.
We tried to zip the plr files before sending via Yahoo messenger. One of the files would arrive corrupted.
If the same file was zipped and sent via email it did just fine.
