To use a phrase that is somewhat out-of-place in this *ahem* mature forum...
SE-IV has gameplay up the ying-yang, my friend. Enjoy!
I've had the game for over 6 months now. I'm still thoroughly enjoying the original (*) game, and have yet to scratch the surface.
After I played my first game, I tweaked my race's abilities, and tried again...
Then I tried playing them again with a different attack approach (drones-a-go-go )...
Now, I'm trying a new game with Temporal abilities...
Then I can try, say, Religious...
Then Organic...
Then Psychic...
Crystalline? Sure, why the heck not...
Them maybe I'll try a mix of the advanced traits...
Them maybe I'll try a game using strategic combat only... you know, spend many frustrating/fulfilling hours understanding the behavior of the various ship & fleet strategies...
Then maybe I'll try a simultaneous game instead of turn-based...
Then maybe I'll try the Proportions mod; maybe get lost in that...
Then maybe I'll try Pirates and Nomads; maybe get lost in that...
Then... maybe I'll actually play other humans
It's a race. Let's see if I can burn out on SE-IV before SE-V is released. In this case, I'd say the smart money was on Aaron.

*: Half-true... I'm using the TDM modpack so that I can have more interesting (and varied) opponents...

Re: Another gamer from the Moo3 mess
Greeting and salutations, Gamevet. I've had this game for nearly a year, and if wasn't for this website, I'd probably have lost interest a long time ago. With all the mods and new races, not to mention the camaraderie of all of the members here, it is a really useful place to get all the info you need for this game. Especially since the manual is lacking in quite a few details, which made it frustrating at first until I asked a few questions and got to learn the game better.

You can add my name to the list. I took back Moo 3 today and ordered SEIV Gold.

Re: Another gamer from the Moo3 mess
Looks like MOO3 might have been the best thing for SE4 in a long time. All the dissatisfied customers are discovering SE4. Ironic. Glad to see the new people. This place is pretty mature and very helpful. You will like it.
... yup, MOO3 is the only reason I heard of a small game like SE4, and only reason I'm buying it. Last "unknown" game I'll be buying ever, going to college, won't have time/money to buy anything other than like my Starcraft 2... or Warcraft 3 expansion etc. etc. I think Malafador (I think that's how you spell) should send a thank you note to Quicksilver/Inforgrames for making the piece of garbage MOO3 that brought people to SI4

Still, it is a very sad story. I adore Moo1/2 and weep at the end the Barcia' Masterpiece

Re: Another gamer from the Moo3 mess
Welcome to SEIV.
I did not return my copy of MOO3, but I did get a discounted price. The game went on sale this week, therefore I got the price match. I saved $10.00 bucks.
It sickens me deeply to have discovered how horribly bad MOO3 is. I played it for several days, and I could not find anything to keep me playing it. I finally called it quites this week, and uninstalled the game. I will keep it in my coaster draw for now, and eventually sell it at a garage sale or ebay.
Either way, I tried to support the game, but in the end, the game just is not worth supporting.
I would venture a guess the the guys at QS spent too much time doing something other than what they had reported.
