Does AI use troops ever (TDM Gold modpack)?

Two AIs that have used troops effectively on me are Orcs and CueCappa (this was one patch down, 1.78?)

Um... this may be a noob question - but what do you mean by AI contest? How do I download and where do I find it? (of course, I just read it and haven't tried looking yet ) but .... just in case.

Also, could someone answer the second half?

The AI always uses troops in my games. If I attack and capture planets, the AI will do the same.

Also, if I re-do some of the AI races characteristics (say re-do the Praetorians to have a different set of percentages) and then save it under their headings (i.e. Praetorians 5000) does this interfere with any of the AI routines or mod changes? I don't want to mess with a masterpiece

Only if you change the advanced characteristics by adding or removing racial tech traits. If you just do something like give them more minerals production bonus, it won't alter their behavior.
