it's an attempt to make your clock time match up with the day/night cycle, which is different in winter than in the summer.

I am pretty sure he knows what DST is. He was probably refering to it being an unnecessary waste of time and effort, not just some random meaningless system.  |

I think we should have "weekend saving time" every summer: You set your Calendar back in April so that you get longer weekends until the winter.
More time on the beach=-)
