Re: My Favourite Shipset Designers
Yeah, POOR me! Why does it matter if you aren't in an arbitrary top 8 list? He could have made it top 9 and placed you as 9. Or he could have made it top 5 and excluded 3 other people.

I imagine that list differs for almost everyone. What one person finds appealling about a pirticular shipset someone else may not! Any the other way around as well! I like my shipsets. Otherwise they wouldn't be out there. I do care to some degree what other people say or feel about my shipsets. But, I am they one that makes or breaks a shipset. Even when I am doing one for someone else. Although I do the set for them. With them having some input, as to how they look. And if the finished shipset is what they wanted. I am still the designer!

It doesn't, actually. I saw a lot of names left off the list. Designers with much more talent than me.

For me, visuals are most important. It has to look nice, otherwise you might as well just play with the game's standard sets all the time and change the AI files.
The next most important factor is continuity. There has to be a theme linking all the images together so that they are a coherent set, but on the other hand, each ship has to be distinctive. It's a fine line to tread.
Finally, I would say originality and ideas. I'm constantly amazed and delighted by the stuff people come up with. The whole point of downloading shipsets is variety, so it's nice to see something truly unique.
