Not at all. It is possible to get into a no-win position against modded AIs with bonuses if you are unlucky with galaxy setup.
Thanks for the confidence  I suspect though that with this being my third game it is simply a case of stinking.
Would starting with no warp points, or not all connected warp points be a good thing?
