I really like Rise of Nations. It is a real time game, but it is not quite a RTS game. It is hard to explain, and the demo is 170 MBs.

I agree with Atrocities on RFTS and GalCiv: I just couldn't get into them.. .

I really like Freelancer

Looking forward to Halo for the PC....

Ever? This is my usual experience. But then, since I've been playing games since the Atari 2600 (and still play the best games, not the newest), my standards are pretty high. Actually though, I guess really I usually figure out a game isn't going to be fun for me before I actually buy it, so I don't

Recent extreme cases:

Stronghold (egad, so much effort, and many good ideas, but utterly disappointing in execution [a few good points, but all undermined by the bad])

Silent Hunter II (Aces of the Deep is still better in most ways that matter)

I guess I'm an old fart...I find something I like and I play it to death. When I had beaten MOO 2 every which way to summer, I put it away and went on a search. I can't even remember the names but I purchased about 3 games, I think. What a waste! Then I found SE 4. Thank goodness for the HappyPuppy site (that helped steer me in the right direction to SE 4).

Wow there were so many:
Hmm ok
MOO3 Eveyrone knows
Galactic Civilizations - A good game for the general populous, but not enough micromanagement, its too simplistic more like a Strategic game like that of Europa Universalis 2
Reach for the Stars - What is up with this crap?
Cutthroats - Man I wish the old Commodore 64 Version of Pirates was revamped!
Battle Cruiser Series, I like the idea but for some reason, the data and book information were not informative and their was no tutorial!
There are so many more, oh yea Simcity4 (right there with ya Atrocities), Unreal2, Jedi2, DungeonSiege, Heroes of Might and Magic 4, ugh i need a drink i am getting depressed over all the crap.

this year i didnt have the opportunity to get new games, and i saw that i was lucky - every title i'd buy turned out to be as bad as it can be. i did however get a couple of older games, included are arcanum and blade of darkness. awesome games. old, but good. i still play games like X-Com because there is little in the new titles to beat that. And yes, im looking forward to '04 titles.
