Re: Your biggest battle?
My biggest battle was with me and the TDM AIs. Each side had 150+ ships and I whooped all over the AI as I had changed ship designs to better defend/attack their design.
But that battle will seem small when it comes time to fight in my Return to Hell game. (Full tech start, 10 planets, 5K points with a full cluster to develope in before you had to meet anyone) Now warp points are all over the place and some fighting has begun between other players. I myself haven't yet. But when the battle happens between me and whoever doesn't like me will be probably 300+ (dreads and baseships) ships on both sides.

Re: Your biggest battle?
To give everyone a bit of perspective on that game: I had two fleets of 70+ (mixed BCs and baseships) blown away by star destroyers..and I barely even flinched.
EDIT: that and the savegame file is over two megs in size. I wonder if we'll break SE4 soon..

I myself joined this game as a replacement too and I am already afraid what battles will take place with the fleet I already have...

Re: Your biggest battle?
Definitely not in the scale of some on here, but I was just ambushed by the Norak during my second offensive against their home systems (the first opened the door but cost me a full 1/4 of my fleet).
I had 56 Dreads, 17 Baseships, 4 Battlecruisers (defense ships full of PD), and 3 Cruiser Minesweepers.
He brought 90 Dreadnoughts & 50 Heavy Carriers (with 108 fighters each).
I managed to wipe out most of the fighters, but lost too many ships to cope when his dreads move to within weapons range. He followed up and destroyed another fleet of 20 Battlecruisers (my pursuit group) before I could pull out and regroup.
I've ordered a crash doubling of my fleet (plenty of excess raw materials) & just finished my first sphereworld, & plan on coming up with some redesigns before going back in. I'd let my carriers languish, waiting too long for an opportunity to use them - so now we're going to do some major investment in unit building.
I got stuck in the middle of a cluster sector & am fighting on two fronts at the moment. I plan on turning on one of my smaller rivals first, and securing that front - then bringing the entire fleet around to annihilate the Norak. They've got about 400 ships total & about 75 bases, so its going to be bloody.

Re: Your biggest battle?
I think the biggest I've seen is about 600 ships and drones involved, plus fighters and satellites.
Outside the simulator, that is. I know that you can practically fill the entire combat map with fighters and not get an error - at least, you could in one of the late Gold betas.
