FOX is crap. That special is just like the Alien Aurtopsy (sp) thing. We did go to the moon, we did land on the moon, infact several times.

WE HAVE MOON ROCKS. Remember Apollo 13? That ought to convince anyone that WE did at least go around the moon.

This "we did not land on the moon" crap is as old as the stories that Elvis is still alive.

The cold war is the strongest argument against this silly theory. If NASA had faked the whole thing, don't you think the Soviets would have been extremely delighted to expose such an example of capitalist-pig deceit and incompetence? Or are we to believe that Kruschev, Breshnev, and friends were part of the conspiracy?

ELVIS IS ALIVE + WELL and serving burgers in my local burger king!

we have moon rocks..... um, it's rock. We have Mars rock as well and we haven't been there yet (At least that's what THEY want us to believe....).

The russians have been to the moon with several roving robots. They've also sent probes to venus (all the way to the surface)

Remember apollo 13? What about it? It was an average movie. Remember the actual events of apollo 13? I wasn't on board so I have no evidence that it went anywhere near the moon. All I have is hearsay evidence from some guys who work for the military that things happened as they did.

There is evidence to suggest that the pictures and films were faked. This is not evidence that the lunar landings didn't happen either.

Personally I don't believe in Cleveland. I've never been there myself...I think it is a government plot to make everyone else content with their own city.

On the other hand I do believe we went to the moon. At the time of the first moon landing, I was watching on TV from a friends basement (yes, I'm old enough to remember). There was a thunderstorm outside and water had collected on the basement floor. Just as the first man stepped on the moon, lightening hit the house, went around the baseboard in the basement, jumped in the water and went down the drain. My friend and I got mild shocks.

I interpret the lightening as certification from God that man really stepped on the moon (and God wasn't happy). What more can you ask for? By the way my friend's father was a minister.

Faked is such an ugly word, how about retouched. Besides the international spacestation is obviously just a large sound stage in an arizona desert. And every body please be quite so we don't wake up the turtle that balances the "flat" earth on its back.

People with government conspiracy theories need to take up AD&D or something to give their imagination something to do.

Or they could use their imagination to make speech files and race sets for SE4....

I have my own reasons for why I believe we went to the moon. If we were going to fake a NASA mission, why couldn't we fake going someplace a whole lot more interesting than the moon? Sure, if the Russians were going to fake something, they would think small like the moon. But we Americans would fake going someplace much nicer. I've heard Venus is great place to visit. Venusian women and all. Don't believe all that stuff about it being the hottest planet. The folks who tell you that are the same ones who think you can't go to the sun because it's so hot. Just go at night, silly!

Seriously, I agree with the earlier Cold War post that said the main motivation for going to the moon when we did was to get there before the Russians did. If you recall, they were beating us in the space race.

If we could spend 'X' amount of dollars in 1969 and walk on the moon, I might imagine that the cost, while still quite significant, would be much cheaper today. But why walk on the moon a second time? Isn't that just a needless waste of money? I don't think anyone seriously believes we can't walk on the moon with current technology and resources. So, if we haven't gone walked on the moon in the Last 10 years, this pretty much confirms in my mind that there isn't any point until you have the resources and technology to establish a semi-permanent base there. The important thing was getting there first. Once we had done it, it was pointless for the Russians to prove that they could too, IMHO.
