Ships log, stardate 2425.223, USS Bonhomme Richard IV-2, Captain Martin Jameson commanding. It has been three months since the Zedron Protectorate declared war on the Terran Federation, and two months since any contact with any Zedron ships by any of our forces. Today six Zedron ships have appeared in the warp point to the Vendrin system. Our fleet has been ordered to move to protect the colony at Cewandi IX. Strike Fleet Alpha has moved into position at Cewandi III. I believed not even the Zedron would be foolish enough to launch an attack into a system protected by thirty heavily armed starships and dozens of defense bases, but I was wrong - and am guilty of forgetting one of mantras of Basic Tactics; never underestimate the potential stupidity of the enemy....
"Sir, the Zedron ships have left the warp point. They are headed deeper into the system." Ensign Smith reported fro her ops poition.
Captain Jameson scowled. "Current trajectory?"
"Directly for Cewandi IX." she answered.
Commander Dewitt shook his head. "Naturally, the only colony in this system that does not have an orbiting defense base. They're rank cowards."
"Order the fleet to set an intercept course. We'll teach them what it means to threaten one of our colonies! Engage!" ordered Jameson.....
