Launch Warning
I'm into my 300 plus turn and the game froze up. As the computer opponents were processing their turns a window popped up stating:
********************************************
Launch Warning
A cloaked vehicle cannot launch units into space.
********************************************
This is a statement well worth knowing, but
I believe the computer player was dumbfounded
for he froze and did nothing. Nothing until I
booted the computer. Does anyone have an answer as why this happened?
I installed the new patch a couple days ago.

Re: Launch Warning
I would guess that a player had a cloaked carrier. Another player was able to see through the cloak and attacked ths carrier. The defending cloaked ship then tried to launch its fighters but was prevented by the cloak.
I have not played with cloak much so someone else might confirm this. Perhaps cloak should drop if attack, unless you can absorb the damage and don't want to be seen by a third race in the system

Re: Launch Warning
Actually, if you keep clicking "no" or hold down the "n" key on your keyboard, the message will eventually go away. This bug comes about probably when the AI tries to launch mines or sats from a cloaked ship.

Re: Launch Warning
I started the game several weeks before the new patch was installed.

THAT could be the source of the problem. Try starting a fresh new game with this patch.

Re: Launch Warning
Followup to previous post, now during combat
the window 'Launch Warning' appeared.
I'm in the 400 plus turn when this happened.
Yes, I started the game several weeks before I installed the new patch. This game has been going on for 6 weeks in a 250 system quadrant with 19 computer opponents, so you can see why starting over would be a great disappointment.
Are there any solutions?

You could try copying your save game file, deleting SE4, reinstalling and patching up to the level it was at when you started the game.
No guarantees, I don't know if it might have saved something which will cause problems.

Re: Launch Warning
In another topic, Emperor Zodd said Malfador is aware of a cloaking-type problem. Here's the URL for that other discussion:
