Everything was big way back when. A couple nights back there was a program on the Discovery Channel about a Plesiosaur recently discovered that was large and powerful enough to clamp down on an unsuspecting T-Rex and pull it into the sea.
Why can't we have sea creatures like this today? Sea travel would be much more adventurous. You could wake up one morning and read about the American Submarine that had a bite taken out of it by a monsterous shark.
*sigh* Oh well. I guess we have to make due with Giant Squids.

You'd never hear about that - even if the sub somehow made it back to the surface, the government that controlled it would never admit one of its subs was taken out by wildlife.
