Re: Poll: SE IV Platinum or SE V?
So reduce the number of extraneous polygons...

Re: Poll: SE IV Platinum or SE V?
Not possible in Bryce. I'd have to- and will, eventually- re-do the entire set from scratch in another program.

Those boxy ships are 20,000 polygons??? Geez, what did you do, go into millimeter detail on the gunports?

The next game will be SE:V. There will be no more games in the SE:IV series, even though patching and support will continue.

Re: Poll: SE IV Platinum or SE V?
I guess the manufacturers label and serial number on each gunport takes up a lot of polygons

Re: Poll: SE IV Platinum or SE V?
Bryce is designed for making landscapes and such, which require loads of polygons to look decent.

Poll: SE IV Platinum or SE V?
If you could choose between a new improved Version of SE IV called e.g. Platinum with new working abilities, improved AI, new weapon damage types and so on, but which would be compatible with the current SE IV (current mods, races can be used)
or
a new SE V, which would be a completely new game with e.g. better graphics, new interface but as incompatible with SE IV as this was with SE III,
what would you prefer??
I think that the possibilities of SE IV are not yet exhausted and I like all the mods and races available. Therefore I could play happily with a SE IV Platinum Version for some more years.

Re: Poll: SE IV Platinum or SE V?
Not quite Fryon. Its true that it does, but the issue here is those ships are made entirely of primitives. Most of the polygons aren't visible, but probably would be rendered anyway.
Take the sloped deck of the cruiser, with the missile tubes. That's actually 16 cylinders and around 5 cubes. More are added through subtrations and such; its not exactly an efficent method.
EDIT: One big thing: the turrets are fully detailed copies of each weapon portrait, you just can't tell in some cases because I armored them. Look closely at the yellow turrets- they're PDCs.

Re: Poll: SE IV Platinum or SE V?
Well... learn to use the .x format then.

Re: Poll: SE IV Platinum or SE V?
Bryce doesn't do .x
And exporting to .x wouldn't help things any. I am using Wings3d now though- but that means I need to learn to texture, as well. The cluk-ruk ships aren't.
