Default Is it possible to get peace?

Is it possible to get peace after a war has been declared? - if so how?

There is a conundrum here.
At first, the AI was not aggressive enough.
Now, it hardly ever goes for peace.
Its a matter of balance. If a race were designed to be peaceful though (see anger.txt), it would be easier to do

The two will hover, spinning inches above the ground. With a giant buttered cat array, a high-speed monorail could easily link New York with Chicago.

Well, anything is possible where other humans are concerned, so I assume you're talking about the AIs.

It's possible, but it's very very hard as of the latest patch. They must get very happy with you (often, all the way to Brotherly), which is hard to do while a war is going on, as both winning and losing battles makes them angry--so you must neither win nor lose any battles (or very very few).

Since stalemates are difficult to achieve with regularity, you're best just not getting into battles with them. Closing warp points and deploying very large minefields both work (when the AI hits a minefield and loses a ship or fleet, it does not consider this a "lost battle" so it doesn't get angrier, which may be a bug).

This takes a really long time, though--and if the other race is angry by nature (Amon'Krie, Cryslonite, Fazrah, Jraenar, Krill, Piundon, Sergetti, Xi'Chung, Xiati) you can basically forget it.

I did just get the Cue Cappa (who are pretty mellow) to offer me a trade treaty from a state of war using minefields, so it can be done....
