The question is, do we trust Lucas to impress us or dissapoint us? I liked parts of PM and felt that Liam Neeson was the only thing that gave the move some credibility. I utter disliked AOTC. From the name through the acting. The only good part of the move was the Last 10 minutes or so.
The screenplay for AOTC was a bit contrived, same as PM, but that wouldn't have killed it by itself. That kid who played Anakin in AOTC killed it. He was a horrible actor. I started to call him "Darth Whiner". Natalie Portman was, let's face it, just window dressing/eye candy. Nothing to that part at all, so there was little to screw up. But the transition from Anakin to Vader (ostensibly the entire point of this trilogy) couldn't be screwed up, if the series was to work. But George-O did screw it up, in choice of actor(s), hack scriptwriting and lame tie-ins, overemphasis on supporting actors, ad infinitum ad nauseam. And given his dictatorial control over this process, I see little hope for salvaging the third installment.
