Pathy...think about it...how would a rock-eating race even have a chance on a Gas planet?

Besides, there is a balance thing to worry about. If you let them colonize any atmosphere, then, they can spread very quickly...too quickly. So, you limit them in some way...they absolutely, positively never ever will be able to colonize a Gas planet...which are the most abundant huge sized planets. Which means that they are stuck with the ice & rock planets only.

Now, they DO have a way around that though....they can research planet destroying & building and destroy the gas planets and rebuild them and hope for ice or rock....

There is VERY easy way to prevent them form colonizing Gas Giants. Remove the design for Gas Giant Colony Ship for that race. That way they won't be able to build these colonizers and won't colonize Gas Giants. Of course, you should remove that tech from their research files as well, so that they don't spend lots of points on useless tech.

After thinking about this some more, they should only be allowed to colonize rock planets (no Ice or Gas planets)....any rock planet regardless of the atmosphere (or lack thereof).
