Comletly OT: What is your favorite natioal anthem ?

I've always liked Canadian and Korean national anthems.

Of course, I'm biased.

I'm for the United States Anthem. After all, isn't the only national anthem with death, destruction, rockets, and bombs going off!

French all the way! How can you not love a song which goes on triumphantly and cheerfully about "our enemies blood flows freely in the streets"!

I have to like our own anthem. The lyrics are incredibly convoluted and baroque, but you gotta love that tune.

It�s not a notional anthem, but the Battle Hymn of the Republic ain�t half bad, and let not leave out Dixie.

Yes, Dixie is a good one. I got a craving for the anthem of the U.S.S.R. a while back and downloaded it. It's pretty cool too, especially when you have company over. When that tune comes up in the middle of some 'party mix' it's great to watch people expressions as they try to figure out what-the-bleep just happened.

For the 'better anthem for the U.S.' deal I'm pretty partial to America the Beautiful. It's also the only American anthem candidate that was actually written, tune and score, in the U.S. by a U.S. citizen.
