I can't remember who but someone made tests about this. The result was that weapon platforms tend to be destroyed from weakest to strongest. But when two platforms had almost the same amount of hitpoints (e.g. platforms differ only by one PDC) the stronger can be destroyed first.

From this I've thought that the weapon platforms are destroyed randomly to a certain extent. After every hit one weapon platform is picked randomly and if the accumulated damage is greater or equal than the picked platform it will be destroyed.

So if there's two platforms, 400 and 800 hps, and they are fired by a weapon which deals 50 damage per shot, it's highly unlikely that the 800 hp platform is selected 8 times in succession which means 400 hp platform is destroyed almost always first.

But as I said I haven't myself done these tests so I could've though incorrectly.
