Re: Birth of a geek
Having been in the past relegated to default baby sitter for many little additions to my extended family... I would say a better investment would be Gas Mask X. You can get by with Diaper I but Gas Mask and all of its higher levels are completely vital to survival.
Congratulations.

And you might need to research several "scanning" and "detection" devices. Several options include: Hunger Scanner (1, 2, and 3), Odor Detection (1, 2, and 3...you have to have Diaper 1 to get this reserach tree), but hardest of all, and taking about 10 years of research is Crying Analysis. CA has 10 levels of research associated with it so it will take a long time.
But, it's a challenging game to attempt. Also, not many reliable FAQs on it.

Re: Birth of a geek
for some practical advice, read to the kid. even when he can't understand it. my mother read to me and i'm the fastest reader i know. even at my very slowest, i can finish any book in a day.

I go with that to narf
though I tend to read larger books now and its hard for me to get a day where all I can do is read.

Re: Birth of a geek
to teach my child problem solving, help with their math, encourage growth in both their independence and their ability to work with others, as well as stimulate their imagination.. I intend on playing D&D with them at a young age.
I fully intend on introducing my child to the classics.... Hobbit before kindergarden! Maybe Lord of the Rings by grade 5 if I am lucky (that will be their job. lol)
Of course I will read to them as an infant.... just not sure what.
OH and I cant forget... to help them develop politcal and diplomatic skills, as well as encourage them to think with a more tacticly oriented mind, lots of Space Empires.
Lots of it.
when they know the keyboard is for typing with, not drooling on. lol
