Re: All I want for Christmas is a "Promotion"..
Hehe How about a quintuple post?? As far as your age, David, I don't know about that. I've been around awhile too. Merry Christmas

lucky bastard! Putting stuff together is fun!! Well, depends what stuff you're putting together, if the instructions are in English (or have good enough pictures), and whether you got the right tools. I'm not exactly a mechanic, so I'm lucky if I have the appropriate screwdriver (how come some toys have Phillips screws, while others have straight edge screws?), let alone a pair of pliers. I don't even know where my hammer is; hopefully, I won't need that. Plus the fact that I would like to get some sleep during the night, as my son is an early riser. So I guess it all depends on your definition of fun. But I can imagine his face tomorrow when he sees all of the stuff beneath the tree (thank God I don't have any male dogs anymore, know what I mean?). That will make it all worth it.

Well, I guess I'm not good enough for a quintuple post. I'll settle for an utterly useless double

Re: All I want for Christmas is a "Promotion"..
speaking of constructing/assembling I have fond memories of getting a "MECANO 2(tm)" construction set when I was a wee lad. It was great fun. Hmmm, do they still make them? or is 'Lego blocks' the only option in kid construction kits nowadays?
Cheers!

I don't remember anything called Mecano 2, but back in my days, we just had the plain jane lego blocks where you had to use your imagination in making things. Now you can buy all of these pre-made stuff like anything from Star Wars or Harry Potter. That doesn't take any amount of imagination, and I will try not to buy those for my kid. I had great fun with those blocks, and I hope he will to.
Also, there was Lincoln Logs. Those were fun too, and I'm glad to see they're making a come back. And then there was Erector Set. I don't think they make that anymore, but there are a lot of imitators out there with a similar theme.
