Re: Retrofit Problem
I usually put another resource converter on some other planet in case the sun in the first system goes nova and destroys all the planets.

I do not see any advantages to having more than one converter. Except for messing up the economy . Is it normal to have more planets with resource converters, and what good is it for?

Backups. What if that first planet gets glassed and you are relying on converting those 600k surplus orgs and rads per turn from your monoliths to minerals each turn so you can have 100 more ships? A backup or two is a good idea, and it costs a tiny fraction of the facility space in the empires as a whole.

And a converter can only convert 1000K per turn. In one game recently completed I was using 3 converters ... because I had to!

Re: Retrofit Problem
Can you convert several orders in one turn on one RC?
I have two converters, say I have lots of minerals but shortage of rads and orgs, then I let one do transformation to rads and one to orgs.
I guess I could set up two consecutive orders at one RC but I've never tried it..

Given the location and protection of that planet, I probably will have to worry about other things than converting resources if it is lost

Now THIS is really a new information - and a good reason. Where did you get this info, have I missed it in the noob FAQ or is it really missing there?
Do you get an error message next turn if you try to convert more than 1000k? When ordering conVersions, there is no message at all (something for the next Version please if so!). Is it 1000k source material, or 1000k after-conVersion minerals? 1000k per Category (org/rad) or 1000k total? Given the resource amounts in NGC3, 1000k is not much...

Re: Retrofit Problem
I don't recall anything in the history file about resource converters being limited. Has anyone else tested this? Guess I'll have to check it out for myself to be certain.
