"Message Sent" Not a 1.91 problem
I am having a problem in a game. Messages are already sent out. I am not sure what has caused it, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced it. I have done several steps that may or may not be related.
Step1
Existing game (mod Anklebiters) upgraded to 1.91

Step2
Started a standard "Save" before finishing turn. i.e. after Messages were sent. Saved turn and uploaded.

Step3
Went on vacation. Unknown AI style did turn (note this was not on purpose, but the mistakes made here were not part of the problem)

Step4
RL Work is blocking all Zip files so Email is stripped, downloaded turn from PBW.

Step5
Unzipped turn and ran it. Most people had Messages already sent to them. I could not send new Messages to these people and I don't know what is contained in them.(one per turn)

Could this be a leftover from the AI running the Last turn?

Did the Messages I had saved two turns ago get sent again.

A 1.91 problem?

I just thought of this, but could Intel attacks be sending the Messages.

I have checked and rechecked the download and unzip dates and it all looks good. I just have a new turn that already has Messages sent. [ March 12, 2004, 18:03: Message edited by: Parasite ]

I ran into this problem as well, I think it was because the AI played the Last turn. At least it was the case when I encountered this problem in the NGC3 game, while the AI played the turn before. (Don't ask me why it is so though) |

This is a known feature of the AI taking over. I forget the exact explanation, but it has something to do with the sequence that orders are executed within a turn.

Re: "Message Sent" Not a 1.91 problem
The AI probably played your Last turn, so Messages will have been sent already. It is odd that Messages the AI sent Last turn prevent you from sending Messages on the current turn, but it happens.
Great, two people answered just as I was answering. [ March 08, 2004, 18:33: Message edited by: Imperator Fyron ] |

Thanks all. I am glad it is simpler than I thought.
Please note how I cleverly suggested how often I miss turns.

that has been an ongoing pain.... Computer does a turn and sends Messages... next turn you cannot send Messages to those empires

Re: "Message Sent" Not a 1.91 problem
Selecting the "AI should not make changes during simultaneous games" should prevent the AI from sending Messages during your absences. At least then you won't miss two turns of communication for every turn you miss.

I thought that this was only something you could set at the beginning of the game/empire setup. I will look for the selection for setting during the next game turn.Quote:

Could/should this be an FAQ item? I have looked at most of everything here and didn't have a clue. Although there are few bug/inconsistancies problems in the FAQ because of the speed of patches and support SEIV gets.

It is in the Empire Status window (crown icon), in the Ministers tab, at the bottom. |

Already in the FAQ in my "turn checklist"

I guess it could be a little clearer, though.Quote:

		| {snip} 1st turn: - set up research, turn off “divide points evenly”, use all points, turn on “repeat projects”
 - set up build queue
 - turn off the minister control option
 - turn on planet facility labels
 - design colonizer, spaceyard base
 - turn off option for ships to clear orders when encountering enemy {unsnip}
