Re: Climate Control Facilities
No, it improves the planetary conditions. Planetary conditions in turn have an effect on the reproductive rate of your population.

Re: Climate Control Facilities
How do you know when the climate is changed? I know the computer tells you when the atmosphere has been converted, but how do you know when the climate has been improved?

Re: Climate Control Facilities
It is the text under 'Conditions' when you select a planet. It varies from 'Deadly' to 'Optimal' and you get a Log message when it reaches the maximum value (the picture is one of a rainbow )

Re: Climate Control Facilities
The game will tell you once the conditions have reached the best level. I haven't found them to have much use though, as it only alters reproduction, and rather slowly at that. (The worst the conditions are, the slowest it will go, as it effectively multiplies rather than add)
If I do want to give my Empire a nice boost, I would much rather build Atmospher Converters, as the effect of these facilities is much more marked. But obviously, it is only if I am patient enough to wait for thirty turns before the atmosphere is changed.

I was playing yesterday, and it seemed to me that on some planets I had 2 atmosphere converters, and they were converted faster than other planets. Is this true? Can multiple converters and climate control facilities on one planet produce results quicker?

Re: Climate Control Facilities
Climate Control is usefull for fixing the "Deadly" planet condition.
This planet (sector) facility does stack with other Climate Control facilties.
Value Improvement also stacks with it's self.
Religous Tech Trait has a Nature Shrine that impoves climate of every planet in a system. It also improves Value of every planet in a system.
The Nature Shrine does not stack with itself.
It is a system ability and stack with the planet ability of the Climate Control Facility.

Re: Climate Control Facilities
These facilities (Value Improvement Plants, Atmosphere Converters and Climate Control Facilities) do stack, so you may build a few of these to speed up the process. The Nature Shrine does not stack if memory serves right though, so only one of these would be effective in a given system.
Edit: And Wardad beats me to it. While speaking of the Deadly condition, it can be very long to fix depending on the "number" of the planet. The condition value goes from 0.1 to 1.5, 0.1 being Deadly and 1.5 being Optimal. However, 0.3 would be Deadly as well, and such a planet would be much faster to go up than a planet with a condition value of 0.1. So it is very likely you will see different results after the same amount of turns.
