Update to the Lastest Version of the game as suggested by others. If error continues, reinstall SEIV and then update.
If it continues, send saved game to Malfador along with detailed account of the problem.
If you do not have a disk, and are trying to update 1.49 you are out of luck. If you do not have the disk and are attempting to update Gold, my recommendation would be to buy the game and get the disk and do a fresh install from that. Then update to latest Version.
