Re: PBW RACE TO SEV TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
One thing that I found leads to an interesting (one might say "more pure") dynamic is to not allow fighters, mines, or drones. This is what I did in Zeta...I have no idea how the players feel about it, however. If I could've disallowed satellites in that, I would have done that also...
Of course, for people like me who can't design ships worth beans, such a rule would be tougher, but, hey, it's a thought...
Thanks,
Alarik

If I can however give my two cents, mines are actually very cheap to research even with High tech cost, since it only affects later technology levels while the first one costs the same. So Mines will cost 100,000 research points to get as usual with Construction, which is certainly not too difficult to get.
And if you can get a lot of trade treaties, you may very well have so many research points it isn't even funny (basically, gaining 200,000 research points isn't so uncommon in most games). I guess, however, that the early game will see the destruction of a few Empires and hopes, but it should go back to a normal game later on (ten systems are enough with treaties and good planets, if you can get the said treaties obviously).

Re: PBW RACE TO SEV TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
This is a great idea. Too bad I'll have to do my military service at next year (it'll start at the beginning of January) That means I won't be able to finish the game.
Other problem would be the fact that I don't have a credit card. Is there a big expense if I'd transfer money directly to PBW account?

Re: PBW RACE TO SEV TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
Ok, is there a big enough interest in this from people with no credit cards that I should get another PO Box? They opened up a new post office branch right next to my work. The main reason I dropped the other one was that I moved and it was a hassle to go over there and check it. But if there are people wanting to join up, and send donations in general, I can get a new one.

Given the response to your question and the (somewhat) lack of responses to the tourney in general, I'd say don't bother.
As to the PO box, if Simon is going to take it over, then (perhaps), he should be the one to decide on getting a PO box (for the tourney AND future donations). Just a thought (there goes my big mouth again ).
As to the tourney, it seems to be languishing a bit as the initial rush was encouraging but the dropoff is indicatory of (perhaps) not enough interest. Perhaps some sort of query should be done...a poll (visions of "Poll Boy" appear ) to get a firm feel for interest.
What ya think?

Re: PBW RACE TO SEV TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
Well...lack of interest....hmmmm.
How many people do we have signed up so far?
I'm putting off entering...just to see if I will have the time...later...for it...I felt that I still have till Aug 1st or so before I have to decide...Maybe some others are doing the same?
