From the demo I played, it's kind of like a poor man's Diablo. Not saying that in a negative way, but the graphics weren't anything compared to today's 3d wallet-busting games. Other than that, it's the usual explore the dungeon, slay the monsters, collect the treasure type of game.

Not that I've had the time to play them, but I've bought Star Fury, Colisseum, The War Engine, and a couple of others. I just don't have the time I used to have to play them, however; heck, I haven't even opened up the War Engine yet. If I can get in a couple of hours of SEIVG a night, then I'm a happy camper.

Odyssey is interesting for a quick game. I still pull it up when I dont feel like being all that strategic. And yes its very retro.

HoRSE is a walk down memory lane for anyone who played M.U.L.E. on machines like the old commodores. Im glad that unlike many others who try to make a modern playable Version of old games, he didnt try to "improve" it beyond recognition. Or as often happens, improve it beyond ever even seeing a release of the game. Its defintely M.U.L.E.

Dominions 2 brought me here in the first place. most of the reviews have it down pat. If their score relies on things like graphics, sound, user interface, arcade action, then those are going to be average or some maybe lower compared to shelfwares. But if its deep strategy, the ability to devise your OWN tactics, massive replayability, and support from the developers with patches based on forum discussions, then it will show a high number.

Of course SEIV seems like its going to be as enjoyable for me as Dom2 for many of the same reasons.

Some of you have been around Shrapnel longer than I have but it seems like what they have are games that would have been called "garage games" and deserved a lot more attention than they were getting from the major corporation guys? (hope I didnt insult anyone there)

I thought Shrapnel sold "Lifestyle Improvement Aids". What is this about "Games". You mean we don't really connect to another universe through our computer?

I always referred to them as "Total System Diagnostic Software"

"Diagnostic software designed to maximumly test the limits of
memory, disc read/write access, keyboard and mouse inputs, the highest
video settings and sound quality all concurrently. If used on a regular
basis any changes in system performance would be instantly noticed
before degrading to the point of affecting other softwares."
It's called insert-name-of-favorite-game-here

I'll be trying Dragoon once it comes out, and I'm curious to see how it plays. All of my PC wargaming has been with games based on the Second World War. I may go into withdrawal without those armor units, but then again it might be a refreshing change of pace.
