My living room is like a waiting room. We have the stacks of outdated magazines and everything.
 The seating is better, though.

I know I was waiting for you to get home the other day! I really like the Dead Sea Scroll T.V. Guide. It tries to predict what will be on. It's very accurate when it come to B.J. and the Bear reruns. |

Ahem, if that's the case, then why is their 'status' not marked as 'away'? IMHO if you're away, you should at the very least have your computer automatically list your status as 'away' (like you do fyron) I don't blame people that are 'away' for being quiet, but when there are 4-6 people NOT marked as 'away' and you (I) get no response then it's just plain rude. Don't log in if you don't have the time or interest to chat.Quote:

Going to #se4 is like sitting in a waiting room and you know how people LOVE that don't you? If people go to #se4 and used it to say, mmmm, CHAT! then it might become more popular. If new players drop by and get the silent treatment then it stands to reason that they won't return.

Placing a note at log-in that "please be patient and wait 10 mins if you get no response. Some people might not be at their computer or may be busy." HELLO! then they should set their status to say this.. 'Busy', or 'away' or 'brb' etc.

Don't get me wrong, I love #se4, but I fully understand why it's not as popular at it could/should be.

 Cheers!
If one was writing an IRC client and wanted to mark a user as "away" should one change the nick to "[Away]Ruatha" or is there some kind of status that is set?
I'm not a very frequent IRC user so I'm kinda of working blind here...
If you see that a user is away, do you see it in the nick or somewhere else?
Or do you just see this when you try to MSG someone or do a WhoIs?
I was thinking of autosetting a away message or changing the nick to indicate an idle user...

My bad, I guess there is no way to 'set' your status to 'Away' in an IRC client. I was getting it mixed up with Messenger.
OTOH it would be possible to use the /nick option to add [Away] to the end of your name, but that's way too much work for most people that frequent IRC chat rooms.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to work on my patience.

It'd be really easy to add that automaticly, but it seems that nicks are limited to 9 characters, so I guess it'll just have to be an away message when someone mSG's or who's you.Quote:
