They had been of a great help securing the western border of Arcoscephaelian Empire, but had now used up their usefullness. Let someone else pay for them for a change. Kasadye himself had just slain his hundreth enemy, a score yet to be beaten by anyone else. Arcoscephale would prevail, even if he'd have to ensure it single-handedly.

As number of provinces without firm governship dwindled month after month it was time to survey the situation.
