Re: It\'s a Mystery
Note: The vast majority of events are good, since they are usually bad things happening to your enemy

Re: It\'s a Mystery
If you look at it that way, they are good.
But I sure hate having my sun nova on me in the middle of a war. lose a lot of ships that way.
But I will say that one time a random wp closed, ending the war with one of the crystal races. We are still offically at war, but they can no longer get any ships into my systems. been like that for over 100 turns so far.

Re: It\'s a Mystery
[old]Did I ever tell you about the time I lost a third of my Pirate Fleet and a major outpost to a supernova that occured in an enemy system?[/old]
That kind of thing is only a minor setback to a nomadic Pirate Race like me. The other Pirate cells, just sent a construction ship back & we rebuilt
In fact, the whole incident ended up helping me, since it cut off the Jreanar from a juicy system of theirs, which I moved in and captured. They don't have any colonies close enough to counter attack with, so The system (and a Miner world and a Farm world) is all mine.

Re: It\'s a Mystery
How about this for an add-on to the game?
A ship that is damaged to the point were it can't move remains in the game. The crew over time starves to death due to lack of supplies, This will then add a use for repair ships and supply ships. Once the crew is dead the ship remains but does not draw maintance from the empire that built it. Then scavager ships from any empire can stake a claim on the ship and salvage it. battles could be fought over the ownership of the ship.
(we must not let the prototype star distroyer fall into enemy hands.) We could even add some type of virus that kills the crew off. Then the first race to get to the ship can add a crew and take control. helping ally stranded ships would gain favor with that empire.
The only real changes I wish would be made to the game is for more use of the population. Like ships can't be used if there are no trained crews for them. Adding ship schools and such. (sir we have 20 battleships in the yard but only have 5 trained crews.) make it were only a % of your population can be miltary personal. Out of that % comes your crews, pilots, and troops. You can build all the hardware you want, but if you have not people, you can't use it.
Then you could add a % chance that if a crew is mostly of one race, they rebel and take the ship. well until you have distroyed the races empire.
just thinking!!!

Re: It\'s a Mystery
Comparing your typical empire population to your typical fleet size, the percentage of the population in the military is already well below 1%. I don't think an upper limit is needed.

Re: It\'s a Mystery
I see bad warp points leading to nice systems all the time. they dont always head into a black hole or from one.
