Default File Access Denied

I am unable to start a new turn. Everytime I try I get a "File Access Denied" error message and the game locks up. All saved games also fail. All new games fail. I've un-installed and re-installed the software and I still get the message. Any ideas?

Steve

Do you have a "savegame" directory?
Do you have a "temp" directory?
(all under the se4 install directory)

Do you have hard drive space available?

I had the same problem, and tried the same ineffectual fixes. Finally, I rebooted and the problem went away. You might also try installing to the default directory. I've occasionally had games that were fussy about that, and that was another thing that I tried just before rebooting.

Thanx for suggestions. Everything finally started working again. Aaron suggested I check read-only status of the files. All the txt files in my savegame directory and the history directory were read only. I changed that and the game started working again. That might have fixed it or it may have been the reboots. Just hope it doesn't happen again.
