Am I only one crashing?
Hello, folks!
I played the demo for a while, love the game. But it would crash more often than not before the demo-number-of-turns expired.
I figured, no biggie, it's a demo.
I got the real game now, and it's still crashing regularly. I don't think I've gotten past 40 turns yet.
I am running Win2K with 1GB RAM, P4.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Re: Am I only one crashing?
If you have a heavy amount of background apps running, it tends to be sensitive to that type of thing. It seems most people are running the game fine so far (and have before Shrapnel published it), so it's probably something related to your system.
What type of Messages are displayed when you crash? Does a box pop up with an error message? Do you do something right before you crash (a pattern of some type)? Some systems with high amounts of RAM (1GB+) have occasional problems crashing with some programs.

Re: Am I only one crashing?
no problems here
I was actually intending on commenting on this.
this games runs without an issues on my computer
the only thing that I have noticed that is slightly annoying is that, after using the windows key to temporarily escape out of the game, each time I click on an action in the game, the task bar flashes in the screen.
apart from that, nothing, though
windows xp pro, athlon xp 2100, 512 megs ddr ram

Re: Am I only one crashing?
Yep, the game has run pretty smoothly on the majority of systems. Here are notes to any others that may be having a problem:
- Do NOT try to run messaging software (ICQ, Yahoo! Messenger, etc) or other types of resident software that may activate while another program is running, while running Trader 2; it may crash or act strangely on some systems. My games have not really been designed to be friendly with other large apps in memory, due to the architecture of the Microsoft libraries used to produce the games.
- Try to get your Start-Up section as clean as possible (the amount of programs that start when your computer boots; the icons next to your clock on your Toolbar). This goes for all games, but Trader 2 in particular. Most random crashes/odd behavior in Trader 2 have been solved by removing excessive start-up programs. Also, my games seem to be sensitive to low memory conditions caused by lots of start-up programs.
Thanks and have fun!

Derek:
Being the computer geek I am, of course I have quite a few resident programs starting up!
So, I'll try knocking those out.
Thanks!
