Mission difficulties/possible bug

Sneaking past the pirates doesn't quite "send a message" like a slaughter of your enemies would

When I first did the mission (in my lowly mark I destroyer) I destroyed all the pirates in the system and still it failed me. I haven't played through a second time yet, but I will do that and try again to see if I succeed this time through.
