Re: TrekMod: are ALL races Rock/Oxygen?
Actually setting up a game where everyone uses the same type of planet and atmosphere can lead to a very interesting situation, espescially if you choose only colonize home planet type AND only colonize breathable atmosphere. Throw in finite resources and you really have to pay attention to everything you do. There will be very few planets to colonize, fleets will be much smaller and every item you build must be well thought out.

Re: TrekMod: are ALL races Rock/Oxygen?
What do you mean they don't use fighers in the ST universe? what do you think a shuttle craft is?
DS9 we saw them a lot in the battles with the dominion near the end, espeically in the big one where they came back to take DS9 back.
Also in the Stat Fleet Command game, you had many types of shuttles (or fighters
The idea that none of the races in the ST mod being different makes it boring is wrong, if you want different atmospheres, just don't use the mod, the mod is setup to be like ST ... plain and simple.

Yes, DS9 did use fighters in the Last two seasons. They were the Penegrine Class (like the ones the maquis used).
In the episode were the Federation takes back DS9, the fighters were seen attacking the Cardassian ships to break their lines.

Re: TrekMod: are ALL races Rock/Oxygen?
I haven't caught much of DS9 yet, I've been more into Voyager and TNG. Sounds cool, I'll have to catch up.
Oh well, I guess I'll have to mod the mod to fit my own preferences. At least it looks great.

Re: TrekMod: are ALL races Rock/Oxygen?
I was wondering if anyone was going to bring this up.
Yes as a matter of fact all of the races in my TrekMod are rock oxygen. I didn't originally set out to do this but ended up with that for a couple of reasons.
First of all, as SJ points out, the vast majority of races in Star Trek come from "M" class planets. That is, they breath Oxygen and come from rock homeworlds.
For the couple of exceptions I decided to make them Rock/oxy. First because if they weren't they would have a distinct advantage, and secondly, the formula SEIV uses to decide race anger depends on other races "coveting" your planets. They won't do this if they don't have the same planet type as you.
It doesn't appear to matter to the Borg what type of atmospere they are in, but it's not out of the question to assume they originated on a oxygen planet. And since they seem to keep an oxygen apmoshere on their cubes, I'd say they prefer it, whether or not they require it.
For the Tholians we are given no clue as to what type of planet they come from.
The Breen homeworld is obviously very cold, but I have made the assumption thaqt that is just a very cold rock planet. SEIV doen't relly explain what the diffenece between a rock and ice planet is anyway so that's not too much of a stretch.
If you don't like the way it is set up you can change them easily enough by editing the ai_general files. I would suggest if you do that that you try to have a good assortment instead of just changing one or two though as to not imbalance things too much.
