Well, if my cloudy at 3am memory serves in the ancient Star Fleet Battles game there were special "base only" phaser 4s that were just ugly evil hit them from across the map hard weapons.
HUGE weapons (like 300kt) with HUGE range (like say 300) that did nasty damage (1.5 times normal weapon).
Now THAT would be a nasty base station.
The biggest yawn about the station was that I could park my ship out of its range and then kill at my liesure OR I could charge in and stop at point blank range and the weapons on the station quickly got wiped out.
Also, has anyone figured out how to get Sithrak Ships?

Hmmm...What about fighters, i hear they are useless.What are their best kinds and what is the best cruiser ?

I found that fighters work well in large numbers. When I have used carriers I usually launch 10-15 at a time and have enough in storage to launch at least 1 if not 2 more full compliments. I expect them to be targets and need to be replaced. Lots of fun when you're involved in a massive battle against 5+ ships for instance. Switching the targeting for your fighters and ship to maximize damage potential.
And it looks really impressive when you've 15 fighters flying in formation around your ship.

Fighters are indeed fun, but I always feel so sad when I see them destroyed not due to enemy fires, but due to collision among themselves

Their high cost aggravates the problem of their loss rate to both enemy fire and 'fratricide'. I wonder if they shouldn't be reduced considerably in price.
I think their biggest advantage though is that you can attack at long range withour risking your main ship. If only Starfury could be tweaked to make this a useful/essential feature. Maybe if starbases really had huge weapons that could take out capital ships with a single hit you could be forced to use massed fighters.

Well, perhaps a game mod can sort out that and make fighters more useful, will have to remember to look into this

How come they hit each other and bump into meteors !?!?! Or even hit other starships, it's a good thing but still costy.I guess you're right about how good it feels to launch a fleet of fighters,i haven't tried it yet.Are all the fighters same, because i saw different kinds of them each belonging to a different race.And DeadZone,please DO look into it.
