Re: One-way WP\'s in the map editor?
To add a normal warp point in the editor, you have to place a WP in both systems with the destination set to the other WP. To creat a one-way warp point, you probably just create a WP in one system and don't do the other end.

Re: One-way WP\'s in the map editor?
You can remove one end of the WP and the game editor saves it OK. I think that you would have to play the game to see if works properly.
Hopefully with no errors generated.
It would be fun though, you can't come and go on the same warp point.
Late breaking news.....
I run a ship thru the one way WP and it worked OK, and because there is no WP icon on the other end you can't trigger the WP.
Looks like it works!

Re: One-way WP\'s in the map editor?
Hey, how about doing that twice?
Make a one-way warp point into a system, but a one-way damaging warp point back out of the system?
It would look like a wormhole with one deformed end, and you only take damage when you enter the deformed end.

Re: One-way WP\'s in the map editor?
Well I can confirm that if you delete one end of a WP, or simply don't place the second WP of a set, you do indeed create a "1-way WP". I don't know if the "one-side-damages/one-side-normal" WP works, but I would assume so! The game accepts this set-up with no errors... we can really have fun with odd WP configurations!
I tested WP that have turbulence on one side and not the other, and they work fine.

Re: One-way WP\'s in the map editor?
What about a "one-way" galaxy?
All the warp points are one way "to the right". The right-most systems wrap around to the left-most systems.
You wouldn't have to worry about the guy on your right atacking you, but you could attack him. You would be attacked by the guy on your left, but couldn't fight back!
It would be a galaxy-wide rock-paper scissors game, with the left side of empires crumbling, and expanding on the right.
You'd have to keep pressing the guys to your right harder than the guy on the left is hitting you!
Just disable stellar manip, and the empires will drift around and around and around the galaxy .

Re: One-way WP\'s in the map editor?
Once you warp to the next system, how would you get your ships back home? Or would all your ships be on one way missions?

Re: One-way WP\'s in the map editor?
<sings>
Boldly going forward, 'cause we can't find reverse...
</sings>
A one-way would work with a cycle, or similar directed graphs (e.g. two nested cycles, where there are no CCW edges). Or like the one-way-street Wumpus map -- a lattice where north and east are the only options, except that the north and east edges wrap-around to the south and west edges, respectively. Leave, and you have to take the long way home...
Spymaster races might be excessively powerful in such a system, 'tho. It'd probably have to be disabled.
