Re: Newbies and Confused People - Look Here!
I love this game at the same time it makes me want to drink. Anyway, here are some newby questions, I apologize if they've been covered elsewhere, but I wasn't able to find them in the forum.
1) I just got cool army 'X' stomped in a single player scenario. How do I go back a turn to change my armies orders so I can try for a better result? You know, the handy save move that every other strategy game under the sun has.
2) I just created cool mod 'X'. Where do I post it so other folks can take a look at it? Noticed that the New Mod forum on Shrapnel Games doesn't have a Dom2 thread.
3) Where can I find the preset alliances in a map? An earlier posting said that computer players can be setup at the start to have alliances with you. Where is this visible?

Before you "host" your turn, exit the game and make a backup of the save game folder. Then reenter, host, and if you don't like it, exit again and copy the backup over the the one currently in the Doms2 game folder.
About the other two questions, I wouldn't know.

From Moxx-
"Hello, gonna sound stupid again...
It has been mentioned that you can initiate diplomatic relationships with other AI nations...
Uh, how?"
Did you ever get an answer to this question? I'd like to know myself

no relationship with Ai apart blood and battles ... I have noticed that the AI (often) declare war on me some turn before attacking ... actually I think that they declare war on me as soon as they come in touch with my provinces, but I'm not sure about that
good play
Liga
PS. the diplomatic part of the game is very nice ... that the reason why so many people prefer to play in MP or PBEM games

Re: Newbies and Confused People - Look Here!
You can, however, gift any AI empire with money, gem, and items. This may not improve their opinion of you per say (I think it helps delaying war declaration, but can't confirm it), but do have its uses.
To quote Gandalf Parker:
Check the message menu. The AI might not improve its opinion of you (I dont know for sure) but you can send money, gems, items. Its a way to boost the nations you know you can beat. Let them beat the ones they can beat that you cant.
Its a deep and well balanced game.

Re: Newbies and Confused People - Look Here!
Alliances are setup as a command in the .map file before starting a game. You can find it in the Map_Editing file in the docs directory of dominions2. All it really does is say X wont attack Y and vice versa.
