Gandalf has got it right. When loading a tga file, choose create a new map.

I crash to desktop alot when attempting to use the map editor.

Guess Neighbors crashes to desktop every time.
Local Neighbors has crashed to the desktop once so far.

Is that always crash when gussing neighbors on a home made map? If so you could send it to me and I'll take a look at it.
