What magic are you strong in as far as the summons go? As trebuchet said, many summonable mages have random picks. Usually it tells you in description that they are "versed in many magic paths" or something like that.
A good bet would also be some indie mages with random picks, such as sages or jade amazons. Do you have any of those? Anythign that has ? for magic pick (and is not Arco mystic) has a chance to get blood, you just have to recruit enough of them to get one.

That's not quite true, there are site-based mages that have ?Elemental picks too. (At least there were in Dom I.)
But most mages with random picks have ?Any, which means you have a chance to get blood.
Nornas, gygjas, some indy mages and IIRC astrologers have ?Sorcery, which is one of astral, death, nature and blood, so those have an increased chance to get blood.
There's no way to tell from a unit description (before you recruit the unit) whether that random pick is ?Elem, ?Sorc or ?Any. (Or for multiple randoms, whether they are linked like the Atlantean King of the Deep.)

Re: Summonable Blood magi commanders
Thanks for the correction. Btw, what do you mean by this?

What does "linked randoms" mean exactly?

Re: Summonable Blood magi commanders
The Kings of the Deep get ??, however both skills come in as the same random. IE you get something like air-2 or death-2, never air-1 and death-1. That's what was meant by "linked".

Re: Summonable Blood magi commanders
I actually found the Damned Merchant in the same game. I will probably make a sanguine dousing rod then hunt enough slaves to empower a smith. That should do the trick.
It is incredible. I am ulm...with drain 3...and I lead the world in magic research. Can you beleive it? I haven't even found sages yet. Just using smiths. One of my tricks is to make them get a small amount of combat experience before becoming researchers.

Unlike black priests, Ulmish smiths are not affected by drain scale.
Good to see you're enojoying it.

Keep in mind that you have to empower units before they can use dousing rods (no blood magic = no effect). And I also find Ulm Smiths to be very good researchers - pretty cheap, and unaffected by drain... I often take drain no matter what nation I choose. Too bad they can't forge any +research items.
