Is there a limit to your experience points?

I've also beaten him with Magoth, and also on kills. Curious thing is, he remains in the Hall of Fame list, and under his former employer's banner too, even though he's been dead for some 20 turns now. He is not getting any more experience though, but I wonder whether you (or in this case, the AI), can actually revive him, even though he was a merc.
