Gotta love those move-anywhere-on-whole-map (flying-10) Vastnesses once you Gift them. I was absolutely delighted when I saw that they get Astral-3 from the Gift. Simply awesome:
Soul Slay (x5), then Mind BLast (3x10). On top of 100% electrical/cold/poison resist and ethereal. Oh, and my best one has Awe +3 (ldr 173) and Blood Vengeance +2. Makes for a really nice SC. Only my Wyrm god has more kills/xp.
The reason even an all flier army can't attack the castle is that the castle is equipped with a large number of heavy duty anti-aircraft guns. You don't see them during the actual battle for the castle, because they are knocked out during the siege.
