Re: Looking for MP games
By any chance are you on something like DSL or Cable? And can afford to leave your machine running all night? (not the monitor, thats too expensive for almost anyone)
The reason I ask is that then you could be the host and start a tcpip game.

Re: Looking for MP games
I am, and I already have it on 24/7. However I do have a firewall that my landlord manages, and hes not to fond of opening any ports.
If anyone could help me test if I can run one behind the firewall then perhaps I could

Re: Looking for MP games
I would think you'll need to get him to open one (just one measly port), or else find one that's already open. See if he'll open port 40404 for you or something.

I can help you test Pillin, if you want to send me the information via Email I can test some ports for you to see if you can host on them.

Housing comes with central internet and routing these day? Here landlords only providy heating and water etc. I guess we've fallen back by some 20 years :-(

Re: Looking for MP games
Dominions 2 exchanges files usually 10k or less, so you could run 50 servers (theoretically) without any bandwidth hit. Maybe that will convince him to let ya use it.
I am gonna have to set up a server one of these days, so I can force my players to fight on one of my maps. Computer opponents are so boreing, they never cry.

We still have to iron some things out about running a "host-and-quit" mode. Files and file transfer are not a problem but running many copies of the host at once sure is. Its a memory hog and doesnt clean up old connections well.
