Is it 5 max of any type? Can you have more then 1 Earth GE at one time?

It's 5 Total. And it is unique. So if someone has, say, Eternal Pyre then you can't cast Eternal Pyre and have 2 going at the same time. You have to dispel his Pyre in order to replace it with your own.

You can cast GE of the same path, different name.
For example, A Necroenchanted world should be:
Well of Misery
Burden of Time
Foul Air
Armada(oh,it's water GE...)
