One Last question on population (confused about Abyssia)
Hello,
in a different thread a wise person said population is good for income: per 200 people, 1 gold. Ok.
Well, I just wanted to try out Abyssia, and I see "they do not farm or hunt for a living, so their income and supplies are not affected by the growth/death scale. However, population will still die in a province with death scales".
So Abyssians eat rocks or garbage, ok.
Population is also good for supplies, ok, didnt know that.
So the small question is: If the population dies, that means Absysian society is just a bunch of army recruits running around in a barren waste? Like Ermor Ashen Vale?
And the Big (serious) Question Is: What is the deal with Abyssia and Income and Supplies? If their population dies, who cares (in terms of game mechanics)? What is the downside to death of population if they lose nothing?
Does that also mean that Unrest is unimportant? (Is their income independent of that too?)
Also, if the entire population dies and the income / supplies are not affected, there cannot BE any unrest since there are no people to be unresty. Right?
What am I missing?
thanks

Production is tied to population too I think...
So they would still get income to buy the army, still have enough supplies to support an army(since they don't need supplies anyway) but no production to build an army...

I think they mean the % bonuses with growth/death
like with growth you get 2% more gold and 20% more supplies and the reverse for death

I think it's only that they don't get the negative effect of death scale on the supplies, everything else should be the same. I'm not sure whether or not they ar also safe from a -0.2% income per tick from the death scale, but they certainly lose income as population dies. Note that death scale affects your current income by -0.2% per tick immediately, while it also damages it in the long run by decresing the population and hence the base income of the province.

Abysia's immunity to the death scale only applies to the negative effects to supplies and income, not to population death. So your population will still drop, and your income and resources will drop with it, but you do not sufer from a lack of supplies due to the death income.

Re: One Last question on population (confused about Abyssia)
What you're missing is that its the growth/death scale that affects supplies. Supplies are generated in provinces based on the population and the terrain. Farmlands = more supplies, wasteland = less. Additional supplies are generated by castle provinces, and radiate out from them to a 4 province radius, with diminishing returns over increasing distance. Supplies available in a province based on the above are also affected by growth/death. Growth = more supplies, death = less. But this Last is not true for Abyssia, whose supplies are not affected by the growth/death scale. If Abyssia takes death, they won't have the supply problems other nations would have, but their population will still decline, and so will their income, which is based on population.

To get it all together in 3 lines:
"Death" gives you -2% income, -0.2% pop growth, -20% supply per scale.
Abysia ignores the negative modifiers on income and supply!
It still still suffers from pop loss, though.
Maybe even more, as it typically uses blood magic, so patrolling against unrest will kill further pop.

Re: One Last question on population (confused about Abyssia)
Hey thanks.
I get it now. So it is like "drain" with Ulm a bit? The Smiths just ignore the drain, but it still affects everyone else?
So having no population will eventually be bad for Abyssia too, they will just ignore the short term 0.2 etc. effects.... (right?)
Thanks

Abysian provinces will lose 0.2% population each turn for every level of death scale there (so 0.6% for death 3), but it has no other effect.
