Wizard\'s Tower
Why is does the Wizards tower costs 120 points to pick during set up? Doesn't this seem disproportionately large compared to the others?
Does anyone here ever choose it? Thoughts? Have I overlooked the value of something? Have I asked enough questions in just a few sentences?

Re: Wizard\'s Tower
Its a cheap, fast and decent castle. Enables you to quickly build a few of them

Re: Wizard\'s Tower
I think the Castle is roughly the same as the Wizard's Tower. Yet it only costs 80 points, so I choose it every time. Saving 150 gold on castles is not worth 40 design points...
If there were 1-turn, 150 gold castles, I might choose them. But otherwise, I always choose the 80-point castle when it's an option. Possibly even for Mictlan, because admin was made even more important in DomII: it now affects the flow of supply from a castle.

Re: Wizard\'s Tower
Good points, but does that justify a 120 point cost? That's the highest cost of all.
Does cost and time to build influence the intial point cost that heavily?

I agree Cherry.
BTW - nice to see you again from the Orion Sector. Seems strategy fans always turn up in the same places...

Re: Wizard\'s Tower
the admin value alone makes the wizards tower not worth it.

Re: Wizard\'s Tower
2 Turn Admin 30 Castles are good for certain strategies and pretender designs. They are also much cheaper, which not only allows you to build them faster because they cost less, but faster because you don't have to wait to accumulate as much excess gold.
Nations that rely heavily on troops are required to build castles. More often than not you will build a castle near a front line where you don't control every province nearby and cannot take full advantage of the admin or leaving an (even a small) army to defend the production of your castle. Also Nation specific Mages are a factor, notable examples of this are C'tis and Caelum. The quicker and cheaper you throw up a castle the faster you can produce your mages without as much cost.
I wish you were able to pick a temple/lab cost in the same type of design, this would allow even more customization and variation.
My only two choices are usually the Wizard's Tower or the Castle.
Also, 40 additional points may seem like a lot, but in reality it is 1 degree of a scale. It's all in your playstyle.
