Tactical combat error
"The parameter is incorrect"
Follows the image of a Shard Cannon about to miss (maybe hit, but only 1% chance) the shields of my BlackHole class Dreadnaught.
Anybody heard of this before?
It is not the first time that the Phong have fired, but, I did have shields regenerating more hitpoints than the weapon rating, after armor damage... and the Shard cannon is an armor-piercing weapon...
Dang, its not that... I just got it when firing my polaron beams into a defenceless (shields and armor) enemy Dreadnaught. (this is with the battle on "auto")
Hmmm. Its happened twice at almost the same point.
I've also found that "System Monitor" shows 1Mb free memory spikes every other second, because of SETI@home... not that I have a huge swapfile or am out of HD space...

Re: Tactical combat error
Is this an error being thrown up by the OS or by SE4?

Re: Tactical combat error
It's SE4 giving the message, but theres always the possibility that the error was handed down from with OS.
I give SE4 the old 3-finger salute, and start 'er up again.
Once I rebooted, I havent seen the error again (5 days or so)

Re: Tactical combat error
Given that it hasn't reoccured, it may have been a hiccup. Too, it is possible that there was a unique situation where the game simply didn't know what it was supposed to do. Such errors are the bane of programmers everywhere since they are so hard to track down.
