Re: Purely Hypothetical: Weapon Length
Addendum:
Of course, rank upon rank of untrained, ultracheap militia with pikes would still be superior to ultra-elite, ultra-expensive knights, but France didn't dwell on that, and neither shall we. Not like any of that matters after you've researched Bone Grinding, anyway.

I would doubt that a group of untrained, unarmored militia would stand up to a proper cavalry charge across solid ground. Pikes don't do you any good if the guy beside you runs away.

That's why you place a line of trained swordsmen behind them, and make sure that they know that anyone who runs will be run through.
See, it's good for morale that way.

Size doesn't matter, it's how you use it.

I suspect this method of casting "Sermon of Courage" has been used throughout the ages. It's only in modern times' democratic armies that the officers aren't supposed to shoot at their own troops. (For some reason, though, they're still equipped with pistols as their side-arm - even though pistols are completely unsuited for shooting at the enemy. Hmmmm...)

Re: Purely Hypothetical: Weapon Length
Just my luck, my computer went and died on me in what was clearly some sort of hardware problem midway through my post-flurry yesterday. I'm presently typing this frome one'a them new-fangled carpal tunnel keyBoards with 3(!) windows buttons. I pried both out of my old one, naturally.
Anyway, I've been toying with the idea of all fear-causing units in the presently nonexistent-but-I-swear-I'll-get-around-to-it SkavenMOD being battle standards. Furry, sober, and make the USSR seem subtle and humane by comparison.
Update: Also, clan Eshin make the GRU look like "Volga, Volga" singing choir boys. Furthermore, this keyboard is deeply lame. In summation, my toes itch. Is there no relief?
