				 Water Cult suggestion
I've recently been toying with several of the "generic" special themes, and had an idea regarding Water Cult - a theme which I love, by the way, on the right maps.
It seems logical to me that a Water Cult dominion would be able to acquire PD in sea provinces. Of course these wouldn't be land troops, they'd most likely be indies of the type which was in the province before it was conquered. Priests could be the "default" commanders in said PD, since, being sacred, they would be able to breathe underwater - and a priest of some type is available to every nation.

Any thoughts on this? For the 50 design points + 1 scale in Magic required to get Water Cult, it seems to me that the benefits should be slightly more far-reaching...and that the ability to acquire PD in sea provinces would fill that gap.

I like it. Still not usable unless you're running an MP game with no real water nations to compete with (Pillin..!!?? ) but it is a reasonable improvement.

Yes, I was hoping it would be seen as reasonable rather than unbalancing. There are only a handful of nations who can *really* take advantage of Water Cult, anyway...but such an addition as I've suggested would improve its viability - at least in SP - for a few other nations as well...especially ones without easy access to Water magic.Quote:

Any other comments on this? Or is Rabelais the only one who likes it?

Yep, I would like that too! Accquiring submarine PD is a huge advantage for land-lubbers however, but I still think that it would be ok... |

Sorry for not commenting earlier. I am one of those ignorant people who has actually never *played* water cult (for a number of reasons, one of them being: 50 design points and no PD). But your idea sounds perfectly reasonable. *bump* |

Well, what I was hoping is that such a thing wouldn't be a huge advantage, but rather a design element which makes 50 points + 1 Magic scale worth the cost. It seems (in my admittedly limited opinion) that Golem Cult, which requires the same design cost as Water Cult, is more flexible and gives more of a benefit (especially vs. Ermor or any other Death-heavy nation like Helheim or Desert Tombs).Quote:

				 Re: Water Cult suggestion
There's already one earthbound race that can acquire PD in aquatic provinces.
Which implies that getting the submarine PD shouldn't be too big a deal, or that it would be taking away a special advantage of one race/theme.

(OR that the land-dwellers getting PD in the oceans is something that the designers didn't intend.)

Five witch-burnings at no cost for the first to name the race / theme.
